Head of Communications and Business Development Reports to: Executive Director Responsible for UK and Africa Programmes Salary: (£37,000- £42,000 pro rata) depending on experience Hours 28 hours/week   Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development (FORWARD) is a UK based charity working to safeguard the health and rights of African women and girls.  We work in the UK and in selected countries in Africa through partnerships to shift cultural norms that fuel female genital mutilation, child marriage and other rights violations.   FORWARD is seeking a remarkable Head of Communications & Business Development who will work to help take us to the next level of our development. Under the direction of FORWARD’s Executive Chair, and as a key member of the organization’s Senior Management Team, the Head of Communications & Business Development will lead in the development and delivery of the Fundraising and communication strategy. Job Purpose You will lead and innovate on the development of the Fundraising and communication strategy. You will set and deliver on income targets from a diverse range of sources, maximising our donor relationships and leveraging new income generation opportunities, as well as developing a communications plan. You will head one of the three programmes of the organization, providing line management support to the team members including events, communication, and monitoring and evaluation. You will contribute to the overall strategic management of the organization as a core member of the Senior Management Team and represent the organization in high level meetings and events and where needed serve as deputy.     As part of the recruitment and selection process FORWARD may undertake DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) where appropriate for all individuals who will work directly with children and vulnerable adults.
