Systems Engineer - Fareham 6 months contract £400 - £450 per day SC Cleared Key Responsibilities: - As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for fulfilling the system engineering lifecycle of one or more of the infrastructure elements from requirements through to deployment into service. This role will be responsible for taking service requirements and decomposing to system components to design and build components of the infrastructure, to allow infrastructure services deployment. You will also be working closely with suppliers to determine the most appropriate solution. Initially, focus will be on defining functional and non-functional service catalogues/service requirements for key infrastructure components and then moving on to supporting assurance and test activities. - These roles sit within a larger multi-role Core Infrastructure project team and will receive direction from the Core Infrastructure System Engineering Manager and the Principle Architect. Subject Matter Experts in datacentres infrastructure, networking, security, technical assurance, as well as other System Engineers, will be accessible to ensure that a complete, assured infrastructure service can be deployed to support the ATM operation in the UK. - You will also be responsible for ensuring not only that an assured, quality technical system can be designed, tested and deployed, but also that the associated service operation capabilities are in place to enable the enduring operation of these infrastructure services once deployed. This will include service management capabilities, service desk interactions and resolver group / support arrangements. - The role also involves working with other projects within the overall change programme to accommodate their new Air Traffic Management applications onto the infrastructure. Key Skills: - Experience in conducting System Engineering activity at all stages of the lifecycle, awareness of principles of ISO15288 System Engineering standard and industry standard lifecycle activity. - Experience of development of Service Catalogues, Service Requirements and Service Design of virtualised infrastructure - Experience in service design and service assurance of IT Infrastructure, with particular knowledge of ITIL framework. - Experience of working with a supplier to manage their activities through design, delivery and test - Experience as a systems engineer in supporting Safety and Security assurance activities - Working knowledge of converged infrastructure and network architectures, in particular Cisco USC and Nexus product families. - Understanding of security considerations and ISO:27001 - Working knowledge of Agile Methodologies such as SCRUM - Ability to learn new tools/techniques quickly and apply to the activity. - Strong leadership and self-motivated - Attention to detail - Strong communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disparate teams
