This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a collaborative project with The University of Manchester and ESR Technology Ltd, Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with ESR Technology Ltd, the UK's leading engineering consultancy to the Oil & Gas, Space, Utilities, Transport and Industrial sectors.

The University of Manchester and ESR Technology Ltd are looking to recruit a Materials Development Engineer to undertake this 33 month project which has an overall aim of developing lubricants based on 2-dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene and molybdenum disulphide.

The position will provide a unique opportunity to combine state of the art developments in tribology and 2-dimensional materials such as graphene and MoS2 to develop advanced lubricants for demanding environments and applications, with potential further career opportunities at ESR Technology Ltd.

You will require post-graduate degree or equivalent industrial experience, and an undergraduate degree with a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related fields of study.

This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.

Based at ESR Technology Ltd in Warrington, Cheshire, you will work directly with supervisors from both the University and ESR Technology Ltd and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
