We are currently looking for a Chief Engineer - Body and Trim Reference No: J0011436 Job Title: Chief Engineer - Body and Trim Rate: Up to £80,000 + Healthcare & Pension The Role: *Due to the continuing success and growth of the business, we are seeking experienced candidates to join the team *You will have the opportunity to contribute to our continuing expansion and work with our key customers Key responsibilities: *The primary responsibility for this senior level position is to lead a team of Technical Project Managers & Specialist Design Engineers on an external OEM client project, with responsibility for delivery of Vehicle Body & trim systems *The role will include responsibility for the ETRS / Timing delivery by appropriately planning and prioritising the teams' workload *You will also be expected to be a 'decision-maker' with the ability to provide guidance to both the technical and programme team with any issues (Technical / Commercial, etc.) relating to your parts *The Chief Engineer is therefore expected to form a close relationship and liaise closely with the Test & Development, Programme Management, Purchasing, SQA, Manufacturing teams, Technical Partners and Suppliers to ensure the designs meet the requirements for Cost, Timing, Performance, DFM Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience: *It is anticipated that as a minimum you will have held the position of Senior Automotive engineer with at least ten years' experience working in automotive design & development environment, OEM, Tier 1 or Consultancy Based *Educated to HNC / HND / Degree level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and have demonstrable experience managing functional design teams *In addition, we would expect you to have experience in the following areas - A broad understanding of Body & Trim Engineering Technologies / Materials / Manufacturing Methods, etc. (Low to Mid Volume) - Experience dealing with external suppliers and consultants to ensure that engineering, cost and timing targets are met - Experience of full product life-cycle activities including design taking into consideration cost & weight and supplier management - Prioritise Workload and Mentoring of Principal Engineers, Project Engineers and Designers - Support the delivery of customer expectations of vehicle build craftsmanship through agreed strategy of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerance - Be part of the design process that signs off Tooling Jigs & Fixtures for all levels of vehicle build, from low volume build to working with suppliers and customers, to deliver high volume serial production vehicles - Be part of the process that defines and maintains DFMEA / Technical Documentations, etc. Excellent package and opportunity.
