Overview of the team

A large and diverse department, your team will be working on preparing for the interim and year-end audits for The Guinness Partnership Limited and for the Group.

Role Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant will report into the Head of Financial and Management Reporting and will be responsible for ensuring we are prepared for the interim and year-end audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completion and timely production of consolidated monthly financial performance, balance sheet position and cashflow reporting for the Partnership.
  • Put together a robust plan for the 2017/18 statutory audit including liaising with relevant stakeholders and constructing a Group timetable.
  • Prepare draft audit schedules for review by external auditors and the Head of Financial & Management Reporting.
  • Ensure all reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations are completed in a timely manner; assisting in the resolution of outstanding items.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of accounting regulations, ensuring any changes required to accounting policies are implemented and applied correctly and in accordance with timescales.
  • Complete and submit regulatory tax returns in accordance with required timescales.
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis/forecasting as required to support the business in making effective and informed decisions.
  • Knowledge and Experience

    • Proven experience of leading on the preparation of consolidated Financial Statements for audit and the application of accounting standards.
    • Experience of reviewing and analysing financial information and reporting on results.
    • Proven experience in consolidation and reconciliations.
    • Good attention to detail with ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines.
    • Experience of using Oracle Financials or equivalent finance system.
    • Excellent oral and written communications.
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Proven customer service experience.
    • Experience of accounting in the social housing sector.
    • A working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
