Solutions Architect - TOGAF - PEAF - Global Underwriting - City Solutions Architect required by one of the City's true success stories. My client is a global insurer and ranked #1 in all specialist underwriting areas in which they operate. This is true growth opportunity to involve being mentored by the Lead Solutions Architect, a published expert in IT architecture. The purpose of this Solutions Architect role is to create and deliver optimum solutions to meet the business needs through the whole project lifecycle from understanding the business case and requirements to transition into BAU support. Hence, this is a pivotal role in the delivery of technological solutions for the business. Solution Architect roles are expected to take on challenging projects, often spanning more than one application and/or technology and be very delivery goal focused. Key Responsibilities: - Act as the central hub for technical delivery on key projects, liaising with other technology teams, external vendors, the project teams, testers and the business - Ensuring that project goals for technical functionality are effectively met and delivered seamlessly into the production environment - Proactive resolution of technical issues on one or more prioritised projects, from business requirements all the way through to implementation - Compliance to the overall delivery model and appropriate architecture, quality and audit standards Person Specification: Essential Technical Skills: - Java Enterprise Edition - Microsoft .NET - Automated build and deployment tools such as Puppet/Octopus/Jenkins/Teamcity - SQL Server (SSIS/DTS, SSAS and SSRS) - EDRMS Advantageous Technical Skills: - Integration platforms such as webMethods, AnyPoint, BizTalk - Servers: Windows Server, IIS, VMware and JBoss - Infrastructure and networking Essential Skills: - Degree educated or of graduate calibre - Demonstrable experience to technically design and architect enterprise class applications. - Excellent understanding of Object Orientated Analysis and Design and Component analysis - Understanding of the interactions between system components and the strategies for developing and testing these - Good understanding of concepts of DevOps, automation of build (CI), test and deploy tools and processes - Good understanding of infrastructure technologies and principals and how these must be applied in enterprise applications. - Good understanding of Software Configuration Management strategies and tools - Interest in software development processes and introducing new methodologies and tools - A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow things through - Have an open attitude towards sharing ideas and knowledge. A positive approach to mentoring, coaching other and sharing information with the entire team. - Excellent prioritisation and time management skills - The ability to present and absorb complex ideas quickly and accurately and communicate these with both technical teams and business stakeholders - Ability to be flexible in working practices to meet project demands - Excellent organisational skills - A desire to provide solutions of the highest quality - A team player, self-confident and authoritative manner without being over bearing Advantageous - Understanding of TOGAF - Business Process Modelling, Software Development Testing/Audit strategies, Technical Authoring, SSADM, Project Management (PRINCE2) - Insurance industry business knowledge - Experience of working in out-sourced/vendor based developments - Experience of working with global development teams This is an exciting time to be joining, as my client is strengthening its ability to deliver IT projects.
