Job Purpose To assist with all mechanical design activities within the Product Development Department Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:- - To be responsible for producing effective new product designs to specifications set in the target specification and within the NPD development programme. - To produce all necessary detailed engineering drawings for the above to the relevant applicable standards. - To be responsible for all ECN (Engineering Change Notification) requests, logging them in the register and ensuring their timely completion. - To be responsible for progressing all NPD design and development activities to achieve agreed timing, highlighting any concerns or deviations from plan to the relevant project manager and to support the discussion and development of recovery strategies. - To liaise with and visit as necessary outside suppliers to ensure sub contracted work meets the specifications laid down and that new processes being brought in house are fully understood. - To liaise with and if necessary visit customers and potential customers, to better understand their requirements and absorb the ethos of their business. - Any such other duties as may be relevant to the progress of the department. Person Specification Details Essential / Desirable Professional education / training - Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering Knowledge / Experience - Experienced in the design of Injection Moulded components - Experienced in other manufacturing processes (High Pressure Die Casting, Sheet Metal Fabrication, CNC Machining etc.) - Apprentice Trained - Experience within a regulated industry Specific job skills / abilities - Experienced in taking ideas from concept through into production utilising rapid manufacture techniques and understanding design for manufacture. - Experienced in using Solidworks CAD software. - Experienced in DFMEA. Interpersonal skills - Effective team worker, equally able to work on their own. - Highly self-motivated / self starter / resilient.
