Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to work both on-site and on client site. You must be willing to travel UK, Europe and occasionally world-wide. The role will be to provide both on-site and remote engineering support for products in Europe, Rest of World and USA if required. Responsibility: - - Act as first and second line support for field installed base of products, including fault finding and rectification. - Responsible for maintaining fault finding data, and feedback of product data to customers and internal groups within the company. - Maintaining call status data in the Call Management database to ensure that customer information is up to date and accurate. - Installation and commissioning of the product range as required. - Conduct internal and customer operator and maintenance training for products as required. - Liaison with the Product Support Specialists and other engineering groups within the organisation. - To install product hardware and software upgrades to existing installations of customer equipment and obtain customer acceptance. - Maintain up to date customer information, technical files and appropriate databases. - Provide timely and accurate reports as requested. Education/Qualifications/Special Training You will either be educated with HND or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification. Formal training in hardware set-up and configuration (PLC and Windows operating environments). Field engineering experience would be considered in lieu of a formal qualification. Experience - Proven experience of working in a test or field service/support environment within high-tech engineering/manufacturing company - ideally on capital equipment or special purpose machines - Experience of electrical and mechanical fault-finding at system and component level - Understanding of automatic mechanisms and their associated electrical control systems - Previous experience of operating on-call/call-out/immediate travel, both in and out of normal working hours. Essential - Ability to communicate effectively and establish sound relationships with team members and customers either face-to-face, phone or via e-mail - Experience of configuring PCs and installing software packages - Knowledge of PLC, Windows and set-up procedures - An understanding of mechanical/electrical drawings - Proven problem-solving skills - Ability to effectively train and manage customers in the use of technical equipment Desirable - Calibration of control systems, e.g. temperature and/or volume - Knowledge of robotics, motors, conveyor systems, electronic modules, optical, pneumatic and electromechanical assemblies. - 16th or 17th Edition IEE Wiring Certificate qualified - Knowledge of 'clean' applications eg GMP/Microelectronics/food processing.
