The Organisation The Royal Institution (Ri) was established in 1799 with the purpose of ‘diffusing science for the common purposes of life’. Over 200 years on, the Ri is a charity dedicated to encouraging people to think more deeply about the wonders and applications of science. They achieve this mission through their award-winning science video channel, public programmes for adults and education initiatives, the Faraday Museum and history of science activities, scientific research, and the world-famous Christmas Lectures. The Ri’s Albemarle Street HQ is a vibrant event space which operates a thriving venue hire business. The theatre and associated Georgian rooms are popular with both corporate and private clients. The Role The Ri is now looking to recruit an innovative and experienced Head of Commercial Events to lead the events and conference team and act as the external face of the organisation, driving new and existing business to increase income through events and conference hire at Albemarle Street. Key Responsibilities: -To generate income through event and conference hire -Proactively seek new clients and sales opportunities, with a particular focus on developing RI’s corporate client portfolio -Effectively lead and motivate small sales team to maximize revenue and achieve quarterly sales targets -Monitor team performance to ensure consistently high standards of customer service -Develop and manage the Ri venue hire brand identity, with focus on website content, social media, printed collateral and promotional campaigns -Sales and financial reporting, including budget monitoring -Act as ambassador for the team in relation to the wider organisation, and play an active role as a key member of the Senior Management Team -Develop and nurture sales team to maximize their potential individually and collectively The Person Key Requirements: -Strong track record in sales -Experience and passion for event delivery -Passion for science with genuine interest in Ri’s mission and history -Strong commercial mindset and experience, with level of gravitas to engage corporate clients -Exceptional relationship building and networking skills -Exceptional people management skills with proven track record leading a team -Budget Management experience To Apply To register your interest in this role, please click 'Apply now' and you will be redirected to the Prospectus website.
