The Role Children and young people with disabilities, both mental and physical, can benefit enormously from regular music-making activities, yet very few have access to music due to family circumstances and limited school budgets. Music of Life uses high-quality music-making to advance education and improve the health and well-being of disabled children and young people. We engage with our students on a long-term basis, using music to boost their confidence and social skills, help them achieve recognised qualifications, improve their chances of employment, raise their expectations of life and make positive changes to their medical conditions. More information can be found on www.musicoflife.org.uk To expand our activities and ensure continuity to current beneficiaries, we need to significantly raise our income (currently £80,000 – 100,000 a year) through increasing our capacity to make successful applications to Trusts and Foundations, who are our major source of income today. This role is for an experienced and successful Trusts and Foundations fundraiser who feels strongly about our mission. We are looking for someone who wants to work from home, 1-2 days a week. We are flexible as to how work-time is organised. The successful applicant will observe the charity at work to develop a full understanding (which will require some travel initially). She/he will work directly with the CEO and Chair of Trustees and attend occasional meetings. The Person You will have empathy for young people with disabilities and disadvantage and the capacity to appreciate the benefits music can bring them. You will have the ability to write compelling grant applications, combining a clear understanding of the charity’s offer with emotional appeal and alignment with the funder’s interests. You will have at least 2-3 years’ experience of Trusts and Foundations fundraising and a demonstrable record of success in writing winning applications. You will have shown the ability to build personal relationships with funders, providing regular feedback and reports You will have the ability to research and identify new potential sources of funds and to build and carry out a prioritised plan You will need to be good at self-management, working productively on your own and delivering applications on time, keeping good records, monitoring success and failure and learning from both. How to Apply For more information, please refer to the job description which can be accessed below. If it feels like a great fit for your skills and experience, please email our CEO Maria Teterina at mteterina@mofl.co.uk explaining in brief how you meet our needs and attach your CV. Interviews will be held in central London. Our latest Impact Report can be downloaded from our website: http://musicoflife.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Impact-report-Music-of-Life-2016.pdf
