Our client is a leading energy and services group employing 20,000 people in the UK. They are using their energy and services capabilities to lead the UK's transition towards a more secure and sustainable future, through a strategy based on investment in critical energy infrastructure, integration of its energy expertise with its broad services offer, and innovation in customer-led solutions and technologies. The business has well-established and diverse operations that span the exploration and production of gas and oil; on-shore gas storage; generating power as one of the UK's largest independent power producers; providing power and gas to thousands of business; and delivering services to more than 14,000 customer sites across the public and private sector. They are looking for a Pricing Analyst to propose and deliver solutions which will help them to keep the competitive edge in a highly complex UK retail energy market. Your commercial and technical know-how will be vital in ensuring that they accurately manage and mitigate their exposure to the cost risks associated with pricing a broad range of energy products, ranging from small enterprises to very large industrial consumers. The world of energy is changing fast and you will therefore need to be great at planning ahead as well as remaining flexible and innovative in your approach to new challenges. Since a lot of their work is in Excel, you should have the necessary skills to pick up existing spreadsheets and models quickly along with the self-motivation to recommend changes and make improvements. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, since the impact of small changes to their prices can have significant impacts on business performance. Alongside excellent analytical skills required to effectively manage their risks, the successful candidate will be comfortable in communicating and influencing at all levels of the organisation. As part of the day to day role you will be offering support and expertise to their sales and marketing teams in preparing new propositions. You will also be working with experts across the business to develop accurate forecasts for a range of different network and policy costs. Finally, the ability to deliver analysis clearly and confidently to senior management will be essential in ensuring their efficient response to industry cost and policy changes. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the factors that determine electricity and gas prices and of the costs incurred in supplying UK B2B energy customers. Whilst experience within the energy industry is preferable, you may also have a background in another similarly commercial/analytical pricing role.
