Principal Teacher: English and Literacy
We are seeking an individual with the energy and vision to shape the department to meet future needs to replace the current postholder who is taking up a promoted post in another school.

English is a major strength within Jordanhill School with high levels of academic success at all levels.

The department has 7 members led by the Principal Teacher. They seek to engage pupils of all ability levels in the study of Language and Literature. There has been a particular focus on developing pupils' independence and confidence thereby raising attainment. There is also a strong emphasis on developing opportunities for pupils to explore the use of ICT to evolve more effective communication skills.

The school has a track record of successfully motivating able pupils and providing effective courses which challenge them. The English Department plays an important role in this and in meeting the needs of less able pupils. The department aims to provide appropriate, stimulating and challenging experiences for all pupils.

Appointment of the successful candidate is conditional on a successful PVG check prior to commencement in the post, satisfactory references, presentation of relevant qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK. Any offer of employment will be withdrawn if any of the above conditions are not satisfied.
