Person Specification - Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor
This Teaching Assistant post requires a committed graduate who has worked with young adults in either a volunteer or paid role and achieved a 2:1 or above in your degree. Ideally, the school need a graduate Teaching Assistant who is able to make the most from this opportunity and gain the skills needed to become an excellent teacher with a view to applying for their PGCE for 2016. The school want to recruit a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Learning Mentor who can forge strong relationships quickly, is an excellent communicator and who can be held up as an academic role model to the school's students.
About the Teaching Assistant role
Your Teaching Assistant responsibilities will include working to help low ability pupils meet internal and external standards or to push gifted pupils to meet their potential in small or individual sessions. Part of your Teaching Assistant role will include taking care to learn all you can from your designated mentor SENCO who is a very accomplished individual with an easy-going, approachable attitude. The school has an adapted CPD scheme on offer for those new to teaching and your role will include working with SEN pupils. You will also be given advice and guidance when coming to write your PGCE/School Direct applications later this year.
