We’re looking for reliable and motivated people to join our professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor) in Torbay. We have a number of flexible permanent part time positions available to work during the day or night within a community setting. We also have a number of opportunities to work on a casual basis in this area. Title: Male Senior Support Worker* (Intervenor) (Driver Essential) Reference number: 42240 Hours: Various part time and casual hours available Location: Brixham, Torbay Contract type: Permanent, Casual Salary: £16,087 per annum (pro rata) - £8.25 per hour An Intervenor provides one-to-one support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments – known as congenital deafblindness. The day-to-day role of an Intervenor varies dependant on the needs of the individual, the nature of the sensory impairment and the ways they wish to communicate. About the role As an Intervenor (Senior Support Worker) you will be to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication. This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required. A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role. *For genuine occupational requirement we are looking to appoint a male only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9). About you The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and also BSL level one or possess native sign language skills. You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments.
