My clients are looking for an experienced Web Developer to join their team as their in-house technician / developer for their Price Comparison Site.

It is essential that the candidates are efficient in their work and are able to take an existing system, understand its coding and find solutions to enhancing the website and its code. Additionally, the candidate must be able to maintain the website, identify and fix any errors and update information on the website as necessary. The candidate must also have good knowledge and understanding of Mobile Apps.

The ideal candidate must be creative, imaginative and forthcoming with new ideas and suggestions. They must have the ability to pick up new techniques and skills, have good interpersonal and communication skills. Additionally they should:

  • Have good skills in software programming and graphics

  • Be able to work in a team and on their own

  • Work to tight deadlines

  • Identify potential problems and bugs before they become an issue

  • Be able to problem solve

  • Be able to use their initiative.

The day-to-day duties in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript either from scratch or adapting existing code

  • Be efficient with MVC (Model View Controller) development technology and the following technologies; - SQL / Object Oriented PHP / XML / XSL / XSLT - JavaScript / HTML / CSS

  • Deciding on the best technologies and languages for the project

  • Testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments

  • Problem solving

  • Fixing bugs in existing projects

  • Testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases

  • Reviewing colleagues' or third party’s code

  • Building and testing Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data

  • Meeting designers, developers and project staff for progress updates

  • Learning and testing new technologies, frameworks and languages

  • Staying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development

  • Building and maintaining databases

  • Refactoring and optimising existing code

  • Documenting code so other developers can understand and contribute to it

  • Attending and speaking at web development conferences and workshops

  • Designing information architecture within an application or website

Salary: Starting salary of £40,000 - £50,000 PA

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
