1st Line Support- Broxbourne, Hertfordshire

A new and exciting opportunity for a 1st Line Support has arisen to join a successful and evolving FMCG company based in Hertfordshire. This is during an exciting time in the organisation's development.

As the successful 1st Line Support, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of client systems, ensuring they are working to maximum efficiency, by answering and resolving support issues via phone, video and email, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and keeping clients updated throughout the resolution of their issues. Above all else, you will make a real difference to the service provided to customers today and be crucial to how they and the company evolve.

A number of key duties in the 1st Line Support role include:

* To be the first point of contact for all incoming support requests.
* To manage the ICT loan equipment (laptops and projectors)
* To provide first line technical support of desktop hardware and peripherals.
* To provide first line support of software / business systems.
* To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues.
* To log all calls into the call logging system and maintain full documentation.
* Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing training and advice.
* To arrange for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved internally.
* To update and maintain system & business process documentation & reporting
* To provide active directory administration e.g. Permission changes, setting up new users, Distribution list changes

A number of the key attributes needed for the 1st Line Support role include:
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of Active Directory
  • A good general knowledge of all IT systems and understanding of business processes.
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Must display excellent telephone manner and face to face communications skill.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence key stakeholders, seeking win-win solutions.
  • IT skills - highly proficient with Microsoft Office (2007/2010), Windows Operating Systems. Experience working with Navision (desirable).
