The successful candidate will be responsible for:

*Carrying out Credit checks on new customers, suggesting and providing ongoing review of credit limits. Ensuring processes surrounding the creation of new customers is well controlled.
*Proactively monitoring the Sales Ledger (comprising Department stores, online accounts, and independent retailers), chasing debt over the telephone/by email and matching payments to the Sales ledger. Updating the Sales ledger with commentary, credit limits and contact information.
*Being flexible in devising payment plans with certain customers and ensuring they are adhered to.
*Reporting overdue debts to the Credit Insurer and making sure we are compliant with our contract. Being the day-to-day contact with the Credit Insurer.
*Processing bad debt write offs and posting a monthly provision as per our Group Accounting Policy. Preparing Balance sheet reconciliations.
*Responsible for ensuring the debit note approval process is followed correctly. Working collaboratively with other members of the Finance team to raise credit notes and manual invoices.
*Monitoring external customer portals/EDI to ensure we have correctly matched Sales Invoices to Purchase Orders such that payments should be received without delay.
*Regular meetings with the Sales Team/Head of Wholesale regarding customer accounts and proactively raising concerns.
*Updating cashbooks for the Sales ledger and matching payments. Ensuring payments are in line with credit terms, as well as settlement discounts claimed etc.
*Developing and maintaining regular KPI Reports to track debt, customer profiles and highlight trends. Regularly monitoring the ageing of the Sales ledger. Presenting information using creative and 'Story telling' techniques to engage both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
*Other regular and ad-hoc Finance duties as may be required (estimated as 20-30%), including
*Reconciliation and matching of retail cash bankings and card remittances to expected store/ecommerce sales receipts, and monitoring variances.
*Business partnering for selected P&L cost centers including input into the Forecasting and Budgeting process.
*Other ad-hoc (or regular) queries and tasks as the Finance team workload requires.
