To provide highly skilled labour required to install, repair, overhaul, replace, improve and perform preventative maintenance for production machinery and equipment; and to provide the instruction and assistance required to develop the skills and abilities of other maintenance Team Members.


  • Install, repair, overhaul, modify and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and / or electro-mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Observe and test the operation of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical devices in order to evaluate and identify any operating problem.
  • Manufacture / sub-contract replacement components with direction from managers, team leaders, and production engineers in order to carry out in-house repairs and to modify / re-locate machinery or equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair / replace faulty mechanical / electrical components throughout the facility and control the inventory of spare parts / production consumables.
  • Source new equipment and suppliers in order to improve the performance and reliability of current Production equipment and systems and to provide advice and support with equipment / machine improvements for new projects.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties for all fixtures, equipment and machinery including the recording of data and reporting on improvement suggestions.
  • To provide support to production call outs, action relevant KAIZEN requests, control work order request system.
  • Machining and fabricating a wide range of component parts from ferrous and non-ferrous materials for production and facility requirements, which includes assembling Jigs and Fixtures to match the final assembly drawing.
  • Recommend labour / material requirements for maintenance work also determine inventory requirements for supplies, materials and replacement parts raising appropriate purchase requisitions.
  • Be familiar with ergonomics, production and assembly processes in order to evaluate process efficiency and to carry out modifications to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain the work area in a neat, clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform assigned work in a manner, which minimises man-hours and materials required for proper completion of work in accordance with established work schedules and deadlines.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as specified by Assistant Managers and Managers.

  • Thorough working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts and safe working practices. Develop additional technical skills and knowledge of electronic, electro-mechanical, electrical pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical principles and repair practices.

  • Basic operating knowledge of relay and programmable controllers for mechanical equipment.
  • The ability to understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications and operating instructions.
  • The ability to use a range of measuring and testing equipment in order to confirm that work is completed to specification and systems are operating correctly.

  • A working knowledge of electronic circuitry and demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • The ability to use machine tools, hand and power tools commonly used in the metal working and mechanical trades.
  • Must have the ability to prioritise and organise own work schedule.

  • Must have an appropriate qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and have a good working knowledge of PLC technology.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing and facilities management would be advantageous.

  • Should be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Must have thorough appreciation of Health & Safety systems and working practices.

  • To maintain the operating condition of production assembly machinery / equipment and building mechanical / environmental systems in order to ensure the continuous provision of the proper environment for manufacturing.

  • Effectively organising work to accommodate competing and conflicting priorities.

  • Provide technical training and assistance for appropriate Team Members.
