Position Summary:

To provide first line reactive technical support for any faults / defects that occur on vehicles in service and fleet checks.
To provide an effective support service to production sites (BTS & Suppliers) with the aim of delivering the fleet into service as required by the timetable.
Provide technical guidance to help ensure the safety of the fleet.

Job description:

Provide an effective 24 x 7 support service to trains in the field.
To audit the output of production sites to ensure safety and compliance with the business specification and report via 'pro forma' to the Service Delivery Manager/Out station Production manager or deputy.
Assist with follow up to conclusion, Safety of the Line incidents (including derailments) providing technical reports, as required by the Service Delivery Manager.
Ensure that when in service failures occur, vehicles are dealt with promptly and information is passed speedily and effectively to Bombardier personnel at the SDC to facilitate a repair.
Ensure all defects reported in traffic on the Bombardier Fleet are reported and information relayed for input into the relevant systems on Maximo. Input all work carried out into Maximo providing detail and hours worked.
Ensure that Maintenance Suppliers provide vehicles that meet the specifications for safety, cleanliness and reliability.
Bring to the attention of the Service Delivery Manager/Out station Manager any specific safety matters of which they become aware and recommend action. Ensure team members remain safe or report issues.
Ensure that they are aware of and comply with requirements of Company Handbook, Procedures, legislation and industry standards.

As part of a major fleet introduction programme our client is looking to engage the services of a small team of persons that will function "in service" to ensure that the new trains operate to their optimum capacity. The ultimate aim is to ensure that should faults - failures occur that they are quickly and efficiently assessed as to their impact on the trains continued use for that journey - and or planned service. Identifying and assessing such occurrences and managing a pragmatic solution is key to ensuring that the fleets capacity is optimised throughout a very busy period of operations.

It is expected that you will have a strong background in rail vehicle engineering, perhaps in such as testing and commissioning of vehicles as well as a good understanding of Network Rail processes and procedures for vehicle operations. What is also key is your fortitude and ability to make the right decisions often in pressurised circumstances. Ideally you will be familiar with such as:
Traction equipment,
Controls,
Lighting,
Doors,
Signalling equipment and systems.

You will also need to be able to record and communicate your actions effectively and in accordance with company procedures.

Must have a employment background in Rolling Stock (Trains)
Follow Written work Instructions
Electrical and Mechanical fault diagnosis

Qualifications:

Must be time served and apprentice trained and hold equivalent HNC in Electrical discipline.
A proven competence in electrical fault finding and interpersonal with at least 2 years' experience in the capacity of Rolling Stock Industry.
