We are currently seeking a Mechanical and Hydraulic Design Engineer for a leading precision engineering company.
Our client is a customer focused and leading supplier of power steering, hydraulic, agricultural and precision engineered products. Our commitment to quality, flexibility and fast turnaround has led us to become a highly respected name among worldwide on and off-highway vehicle manufacturers and OEMs, aftermarket organisations and military buyers in both the manufacturing and remanufacturing industries.
Our client is looking for an excellent candidate, capable of driving and owning engineering projects from concept to completion. Reporting to the operations manager and working closely with the Engineering manager, you will provide engineering solutions and improvements to new and on-going engineering projects, mainly on steering applications. You will have experience in the full "design for manufacture" process. The role will incorporate direct customer interfaces with fellow engineering professionals. As part of your role, your key responsibilities / duties will include:-
*Design from customer expectations, producing 3D CAD Models and detailed drawings
*Use of engineering principals such as mechanical & structural constraints, geometric tolerance and appropriate material selection.
*DFMEA and DV report writing
*BoM writing (into our in house ERP system)
*Reverse engineering / strip analysis report writing for our remanufactured range of products
*"hands-on" design, incorporating both inspection and assembly
*Customer facing: presentation of Engineering solutions
*Analysing engineering data and evaluating the results
The Candidate
*An excellent understand of 3D CAD Software (Solidworks 3D as a preference)
*Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (will accept an HNC/HND if you have relevant industry experience.)
*Understanding of the fundamentals of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and valves and their applications.
*Experience / understanding of machining methods and principles
*Proven track record working from concept to completion
*Problem solving skills

*Embrace and promote the culture of continuous improvement
*Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
*Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
*Excellent organisational, literacy and numeracy skills

*The ability to read, write and understand English
