Hours: Term Time – 7.45am – 4.30pm

School Holidays – reduced hours depending on the needs of the school

Job Description

This role is the first point of contact for all IT and media support queries for our busy school of 100 staff and 400 pupils. In particular, the job holder will:

  • Provide excellent technical support to all members of the school community
  • Run the IT help desk, logging, prioritising, tracking and completing support cases
  • Troubleshoot problems and resolve IT user issues with:
  • Desktop (Windows and Mac) and mobile devices (ChromeOS & iOS) hardware and software
  • Classroom interactive audio and display equipment
  • Network access and service connectivity
  • Displaying and running multimedia content
  • Communications including e-mail and telephone
  • Printing and reprographics
  • Keep staff up to date on the status of support cases and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Ensure that all classroom and office IT equipment is kept tidy, clean and secure including:
  • classroom devices are all accounted for and locked securely in their lockers at the end of each day
  • office and classroom IT (& AV) cabling is neat, tidy and secure, remediating wherever necessary
  • managing a simple booking system for shared AV equipment (cameras, etc)
  • Provisioning and maintenance of users and device and the issuing of devices to staff:
  • maintaining current user accounts in Active Directory, the school telephone system and others as is necessary
  • Help managing the school’s G Suite account including users and devices
  • Help managing mobile devices and apps using the school’s MDM solution
  • Responsible for issuing devices to staff and ensuring they are returned and accounted for when staff leave or the device is no longer required
  • Assist in the ongoing management, maintenance and renewal of the School’s IT systems and equipment, including:
  • Installation, patching and upgrade of software across the network including desktop imaging
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve basic software and hardware faults
  • Perform basic hardware & software, installation, maintenance, repairs and upgrades
  • IT Asset & warranty tracking and securing equipment
  • Regular cleaning of IT and AV equipment including keyboards and screens
  • Maintenance of printers and their consumables including liaison with suppliers:
  • Ordering consumables ensuring value for money and acceptable quality
  • Escalating faults and managing attendance of printer service technicians
  • ensure paper deliveries are distributed to printing points in a timely fashion
  • Maintaining licenses, subscriptions, warranties and support contracts
  • Maintain resource calendars for portable equipment and devices
  • Help maintain IT site documentation
  • To work cooperatively and effectively with the other members of the KS IT team and the school community
  • Escalate second and third line support issues to the appropriate team member or supplier
  • Collaborate and assist other team members with IT projects, maintenance and support tasks as required
  • Help deliver staff digital technology training
  • Contirbute to in-house knowledge base and training materials as required
  • Help others with their design, print and reprographics needs
  • Provide IT, AV and multimedia support at school events
  • Exemplify and help others apply the school’s IT acceptable use policy
  • Apply the principles of the KS code to all aspects of work and interactions with others
