Graduate Java Developer - Java 8 / Micro-Services Oscar Technology are working with a business in Central London to help them secure a Graduate Java Developer to help support their continued growth. Joining a small but highly skilled team of 5 Java Developers, this position will be helping to scale & enhance their product suite using Java 8, Spring, Micro-services, Hibernate, PostgreSQL & NoSQL, Linux and Tomcat web-servers. This position would be ideal for a recent graduate with a Computer Science or Software Engineering degree or a Mathematics or Science Degree & experience with Java Development. For a graduate, the client will pay £25-30,000 and for someone with 1-2 years experience, the will pay £30-35,000. The Company The company are a publicly listed specialist software & analytics firm, serving the pharmaceutical & clinical research industries. The team you will be joining has 5 Developers working in it and in recent years, applications within their suite of products, have been re-architected into a Java 8, Spring Boot based micro-services architecture. The aim now is the continue to add new features into these products, whilst scaling them to be able to handle thousands of instances of data per second. Role Requirements: - Development is primarily in Java 8, but can include SQL and/or scripting - A real passion for technology - Input to design and development of new systems and features - Input to enhancements to existing systems and features - Follow the defined development processes and practices - Support systems through acceptance test and deployment Skill Requirements: - Java development experience - Use of Linux/Unix - Knowledge of Database technologies (RDBMS/SQL/PostgreSQL) - Knowledge of web technologies (HTML/CSS/Javascript) - Web application development (Apache Tomcat) - Understanding of scripting languages (shell, Perl) - Understanding of Object-Orientated development - Understanding of Agile concepts - Degree in Computer Science or any other analytical or numerate degree Others: - Good interpersonal skills, works well in a team environment - Good problem solving skills - Pro-active working style - Can manage own time and prioritise requests - Above all, need to be a positive, flexible and solution focused personality Oscar Technology Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
