Senior DevOps Engineer / London / 6 Months Contract / 450 to 550 GBP (Per Day) This vacancy has been assessed as off-payroll under IR35. The rates shown are LTD company day rates. As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will own the overall DevOps process along with setting the strategies for products and the wider community. You will contribute to the Engineering and Architecture Leads that will help ensure the systems are fit for purpose. With a focus on stability, availability and quality you will be accountable for the code and services your teams produce and administer. You will provide technical leadership to a small team of DevOps Engineers along with providing oversight to the products and services they develop. You are a skilled practitioner and role model in DevOps principles. You are responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to effectively deliver software products. - Breakdown user stories into tasks. Design and lead the tactics for building reusable libraries, templates and services and own the development of medium-long term strategies for products lines within your Functional and Professional Communities - Lead a DevOps Engineering team providing technical leadership and guidance, creating a DevOps culture and implementing automation best practices. This will include coaching and mentoring your team, taking accountability for their decision-making and their professional development - Contribute and set strategic direction for DevOps teams and wider Engineering community - Lead the sharing of knowledge, documentation and good practice with the wider Engineering community - Provide coaching and mentoring to Software and DevOps Engineer colleagues and peers - Lead community discussions about DevOps best practice within Engineering Essential skills: - Extensive experience of using, operating, patching and securing Linux operating systems like RHEL - Extensive experience of configuration management software like Puppet or Ansible and scripting languages like BASH, Perl or Python - Extensive experience of deploying, supporting and patching public, cloud-based applications that are repeatable, scalable, resilient and highly available (including APIs and microservices) - Extensive experience of modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by other engineers - Experience of leading DevOps Engineers in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, delivering products within specific time-scales and engaging with multiple senior stakeholders Desirable skills: - Significant and demonstrable experience of provisioning tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation - Significant and demonstrable experience with continuous integration and delivery tools like Jenkins - Significant and demonstrable experience of clustering and load balancing applications and services, like NGINX - Significant and demonstrable experience working with distributed version control systems like Git - Significant and demonstrable experience of static code analysis and security tools like SonarQube or Checkmarx - Significant and demonstrable experience working with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Slack - Experience of modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by other engineers - Experience deploying repeatable, scalable, resilient and highly available HTTP services, including APIs and microservices - Experience with virtualisation and container based technologies like Docker - Demonstrable experience of DevSecOps principles and security automation tools - Can identify and implement Continuous-Integration and Continuous-Delivery best practices If you match these requirements, please apply in the normal way.
