IT Architect - Staines
£60,000-£70,000 + car allowance + perm benefits
A leading financial organisation is currently recruiting for a IT Architect to have overall responsibility for the solution design and technical architecture at both a project and enterprise level. You will be part of the technical design team and be accountable for furthering the architectural strategy, contributing to the strategic IT roadmap encompassing all areas of infrastructure and application technology. You will be expected to work alongside Senior IT managers, SME's and senior stakeholder. Your role will be a full holistic approach of the IT architect including operational delivery, leadership and people management, improvement, risk and budget.


Applications Technical Background
* Broad, generalist knowledge covering web development, several development languages, secure coding, Linux, continuous delivery, cloud computing, containerisation, networking, HTTP and TCP, virtualisation, storage options and similar, use of Springboot, NGINX, KONG, Apache advantageous
* Someone who is genuinely interested in shiny new technology, but not just for its own sake

Experienced IT Architect
* Clear thinker and communicator who understands the business objectives and focuses on technical designs which support them
* Delivery focussed, promoting designs which are practical and consider the business impacts such as user migration and supportability
* Commercially minded ensuring the TCO of any new technology choices or deliveries is understood and communicated
* Understands the importance of choosing technologies which support effective ways of working considering developers, testers and support and the ways teams interact
* Recognises the importance of right weight governance and working effectively within regulatory constraints

Strong Leadership Skills
* Experience leading technical design decisions within and across teams, working with a community of developers, testers, support operatives and others to develop designs which the team rallies round
* Personable and enjoys working with people
* Leads by example and demonstrates an appetite to actively solve problems and resolve impediments
* Not afraid to challenge the status quo, but works positively and proactively to bring about change

Experience of Agile Methodologies
* Strong understanding of the underlying principles of Agile and Lean and experience of applying them, knows when they work and when they don't
* Enjoys sitting with a delivery squad and participating in the daily work
* Actively leads the adoption of positive team working practices such as pairing, peer review, spikes, show and tell sessions
* Experience working closely with product owner and business analyst
* Ensures the impact of non-feature requirements such as performance, resilience, release engineering and security are understood by the whole team and prioritised appropriately
* Sufficient knowledge of software testing approaches to steer good test practice and encourage software is designed for testability
