Our public-sector client is looking for a project manager with experience of rail franchising projects to join their team based in Leeds for a 2 year fixed term appointment. This role will require regular travel to Manchester, York and London. Role description: In this role you will provide technical support and project management of franchise change projects. You will be required to manage complex and politically sensitive information relating to rail investment projects, challenging the franchisees to achieve good outcomes and assisting in the successful delivery of improvements to train services across the North of England. Report writing will be a key part of the successful candidate's role. This will include providing regular status updates to senior management and partners, writing business case proposals for consideration by investment boards, and working to tight deadlines with minimal supervision. What we are looking for: The successful candidate will have proven experience of project management and handling confidential information, experience of rail industry commercial environment and ability to develop credible relationships with industry leaders at executive level will be advantageous. The role requires an ability to effectively manage both internal and external resources appropriately, ensuring that programme and project management, risk management and financial resource management skills are delivered effectively. An essential criteria in this role, is an ability to prioritise conflicting or extensive workloads, combined with a high level of computer literacy to enable efficient and effective delivery against SMART objectives.
