Through The Gate Mentor An exciting Communications Assistant role based with a national charity Our client is a national charity that provides support to prisoners, people with convictions, and their families Position: Through the Gate Mentor Location: Wales & The South West Contract type: Permanent Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week Salary: £20,000 per annum (FTE) Benefits: Generous holiday entitlement, child care vouchers, cycle to work scheme & more Closing Date 16th October 2017 Interview Date: 24th October 2017 About the role: As a Through the Gate Mentor, you will take referrals from partner agencies and prison-based organisations, assessing potential service users and working with them to co-create concise, achievable action plans which meet their resettlement needs and assist them in overcoming barriers to successful reintegration. The main support provided is just before release (in custody) and on the day of their resettlement, assisting them in achieving their goals for their first day in the community. Follow-up support is also provided in a variety of ways including face to face meetings and telephone support. You will also work closely with Mentoring Co-ordinators to provide information to allow accurate monitoring, management and reporting on individual and site performance targets on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and work collaboratively with other organisations to ensure a multi-agency approach, working with a range of statutory and non-statutory partners including Community Rehabilitation Companies, the Prison Service, National Probation Service, Local Authorities and a wide variety of voluntary and community agencies. About you: You will be responsible for a caseload of offenders who are being released from prison, and will be responsible for providing them with appropriate support to ensure a successful resettlement into the community. You will provide one to one casework, and drop-in sessions, this may include meeting the offender whilst still in custody to complete an action plan, meeting at the gate, accompanying to appointments and supported referrals. The successful candidate will be required to deliver both individual and group family/relationship case work support to ex-offenders across a large geographical area. You will meet clients at the gate on their release from prison and accompany to appointments where necessary. You will work collaboratively with Mentoring Co-ordinators to ensure that Volunteer Mentors are effectively inducted, deployed and supported to maintain their own client caseload. Furthermore, keep accurate and up to date records of work done and clients seen. You will be expected to be based in South Wales with occasional travel into London and nationally as well as across the South West / Wales Region.
