Junior Data Engineer
This organisation is an on-demand tech driven delivery service that hand-pick the best of your city, to your door. They’ve built a platform that enables efficient delivery for anyone who wants to move goods within the city in under an hour. They do so by connecting customers to local couriers and the high street with new on-demand tools for both businesses and consumers. They have built great partnerships with brands including Burger King, Tesco, Lobster Kitchen and Uniqlo. This data driven start-up is well funded and ready to scale – with millions of pounds in investment behind them.
The Data Team is a small, agile unit in charge of the production of decision making tools and optimised systems for the whole company. They are an eccentric bunch with different yet complementary backgrounds, and are looking for more brain power to fuel the company’s fast expansion. This is an exciting opening as you will have an impact on every department, and, since they are in a burgeoning industry, you will not run out of original challenges.
Responsibilities:·Designing, building and maintaining data-pipelines connecting backend systems.·Designing, building and maintaining data-integrations with external systems.·Supporting the Data Team building/automating/optimising new analytical data sets and analyses.·Supporting various business departments with new and ongoing data needs.
Role Requirements:·Minimum of 2:1 in an analytical degree for a top University.·At least 1 year experience in data engineering oriented role(s).·Experienced in at least one of: Python, Java/Scala, Ruby, Elixir·Development experience using SQL.·Adaptable, forward thinking, and able to evolve with the business·Organised and proactive, willing to learn and push to the next level·Extremely curious and eager to learn ·Structured and analytical thinker·Business oriented mindset, with a genuine interest for the tech industry
Desirable:·Data modelling experience in NoSQL environment (MPP databases, Key-Value stores)·Understanding/Experience with message queues & stream processing (RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar)·ETL & ELT process design/management.·AWS experience (EC2, EMR, Redshift, Kinesis)·Understanding/Experience with containerised micro-services (Docker and/or Kubernetes)
