Our client is a highly successful International organisation who are seeking a Product Developer to join their busy and expanding team. The successful candidate will have experience with Illustrator & In Design and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within Product Development or garment technology

Deliverables: Criteria/Results by which success can be measured

Create accurate and detailed specifications, updating as necessary through from proto to salesman samples and/or approval to bulk production.

Review fit on all samples with agreement from Senior Product Developer & Product Development Manager, amending as necessary.

Working to corporate calendar dates relevant to product, e.g. samples at all stages being received and comments made / fabric & trim approval completed in line with critical path deadlines, with the ability to manage own workload under changing priorities.

Consider product construction when creating specifications to ensure construction will give the best quality.

Liaise with factories and designers to test and trial new technologies or constructions to ensure designs are workable at the beginning of the development process through to bulk, looking for alternative solutions when necessary, whilst being aware of how quality/performance issues have been overcome previously so that the same mistakes are not repeated. Creating clear and concise comments to ensure all changes are understood and actioned by the factories.

Be aware of new fabric/trim developments, gaining an understanding of how they are applied/function across the range and ensuring they are fit for purpose at all development stages.

Keep target monitors and critical paths up to date throughout the season.

Keep all style files up to date and in line with trading standards.

Work towards maintaining Grade 1 QC standard.

Review supplier AQL’s and issue permission to ship letters, with the addition of certificates of conformity for USA orders in line with the critical path deadlines.

Review and assess QI results, liaising with suppliers on any issues found to ensure the same problem does not reoccur.

Shop visits to look at construction and quality, looking for ways in which products can be improved on new & current designs.

Resolve customer service / sales queries in a timely manner, ensuring awareness of any customer complaints.

Ensure good communication with the goods in warehouse to raise any issues in a timely manner, carrying out inspections if necessary.

Carry out initial SMS inspection, development comments, in line and bulk inspections, as well as factory audits as required on development trips to Asia.

Arrange testing and collate results as requested by the Technical Manager or other senior members of the team

Give feedback on factories so that the Gold/Silver/Bronze can be completed.

Complete the bible on time and accurately, ensuring all amendments are made and keeping the bible amendments log up to date.

Help with the completion of accurate comparisons between men’s, women’s and ranges on given product area, highlighting any inconsistencies.

Question processes whilst being open to new ideas.

Source new trims according to Designers requirements, whilst ensuring that suggested trim is fit for purpose, cost effective and meets testing requirements. Ensure all records are kept clear, accurate and up to date, including price, MOQ & trim breakdown for all styles, making Designers/Buyers aware of any potential issues.

Share knowledge and experience with other team members

Generate and approve FC labels.

Carry out seasonal housekeeping to ensure that samples / paperwork are archived and electronic data is accurate / up to date.

Range launch preparation.

Maintain meaningful personal development plan.

Undertake such tasks and duties as may be reasonably requested by your manager or other members of the management team.

Experience: Relevant experience for the role

Minimum of two years’ experience.

Some knowledge and experience of fitting garments/products.

Knowledge of garment construction.

Experience of working with designers and understanding design needs.

Experience of working closely with factories to ensure quality and social compliance is to the high standard required.

Proven track record within product development and/or garment technology environment.

Experience of delivering excellent quality merchandise from offshore supplier base.

Other Significant Role Requirements & Technical Knowledge: Any further key factors which have a bearing on a candidate’s ability to perform

Computer literate with knowledge of Illustrator and In Design programs.

Some knowledge of pattern cutting, construction and manufacturing techniques.

Be organised, accurate and have a good eye for detail.

Up to date knowledge of kid’s safety regulations.

Undertake trips to Asia to visit suppliers when required.
