Desktop Support Technician Dorset Desktop Support Technician needed for a major electrical manufacturing organisation based in Dorset who are looking to employ an experienced Desktop Support Technician with an in-depth knowledge of resolving IT problem reports, and the ability to work independently with little supervision. The successful Desktop Support Technician will want to work for this client not just because it's a great opportunity but also because they will give you a wealth of benefits including: * Salary: £18,000 per annum * 25 day's holidays * Pension Plan * Career Progression * Child care vouchers * Cycle scheme * Life assurance * + many more select benefits What the role entails: Some of the main duties of the Desktop Support Technician will include: * Being the main focus point for dealing with end user problem reports in the IT helpdesk/ticket system * Helping to develop the IT helpdesk/ticket system to best support the business * Maintaining asset databases for IT equipment and software * Manage new starters from an IT perspective including ensuring that equipment is available/configured and that they undertake an IT induction * Raising issues to the IT Manager where appropriate * Performing computer installs/builds What you need to be the successful Desktop Support Technician: Qualifications / skills required: * Several years' experience of Microsoft Windows systems (7,10) in an enterprise environment and the associated technologies (AD, DNS, DHCP) * Experience of Microsoft Office of various revisions * Ability to pick up new technologies/software quickly, quick learner * Understanding of networking and networking technologies * Experience of Linux and Linux technologies * Good problem solver * Experience of software coding/development is beneficial * Methodical with an eye for detail * Understanding of IT fault resolution processes, ITIL experience is useful * Clean full driving license is beneficial Behaviours Required: * Good communicator, able to interact with all members of the business * Polite and able to explain technical issues in an easy to understand manner * Able to think clearly and remain motivated under pressure * Able to work independently with little supervision * Keen to understand a problem and find a solution using resources at hand * Methodical with an 'eye for detail' Must be eligible for Security Clearance - British passport holders ONLY!
