Job Title: IT Office Manager/IT Team Manager/IT Infrastructure Location: Edinburgh Salary: £30,471 - £35,766 per annum Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Closing Date: Midday 11th October 2017 Reports To: Head of IT The Client: Our Client are the lead body for Scotland's historic environment; a charity dedicated to the advancement of heritage, culture, education and environmental protection. They are at the forefront of researching and understanding the historic environment, and addressing the impact of climate change on its future. They investigate and record architectural and archaeological sites and landscapes across Scotland and care for more than 300 properties of national importance. They have a People Strategy which will be an overarching strategy to which ensures they support and develop staff within the organisation. Job Role: Working within the IT Business Office, supporting the IT leadership team, your role will be accountable for defining and operating and ensuring compliance with a range of processes to ensure effective day-to-day operation of Historic Environment Scotland IT. Key responsibilities, duties and objectives Overall accountability for: Defining and operating effective operational management processes for IT (including finance, supplier management, management information, operational resourcing, IT management team, compliance management) to deliver significant improvements in the day-to-day operation of the IT function. - Establishing and operating service monitoring and service reporting processes, embedding the regular use of appropriate management information into the operation of the IS function. - Supplier management for IT, delegating day-to-day management activities to the IT Senior Management team where appropriate. - Procurement, sourcing and contract management for IT. - Operational finance processes within IT, including supporting budget setting and budget management. - Internal IS communications and events. - Provision of business support / services within IT. - Managing within budget that has been allocated. - Supporting and working with CTO, Head of IT, and their direct reports, to deliver effective operational management of the IS function. Key additional elements of this role include: - Substantial interaction with senior colleagues and the ability to communicate clearly, use discretion, persuade and influence these colleagues. - Exercising judgement and initiative in setting personal and team priorities to support the effective operation of the IT senior management team. - Coaching and guiding a wide range of colleagues in the adoption of operational management processes, including at more junior and more senior grades. - Day to day management of audit action plans Knowledge, skills and experience Essential requirements: - Broad experience across a wide range of IT capabilities, with the ability to engage with and understand issues and activities in each area. - Ability to drive the adoption of new ways of working including with peers and more senior grades (i.e. exercises influence, not just hierarchical authority). - Ability to assimilate and analyse complex information from a wide range of IT sources/disciplines and distil this into clear management information suitable for a senior, and potentially non-technical audience. - Strong verbal and written communication skills with a variety of audiences/backgrounds. - Experience of handling sensitive information with discretion. - Experience in IT including at a team leader and/or project management level.
