Support Specialist required to work within the Research Computing Service team. Based near Knightsbridge Station, paying up to £34K, the Support Specialist will be joining a new Research Computing Service team, on a 36-month FTC. Support Specialist must be skilled in; using a service management tool, ideally service now, Linux, Matlab, Python, R, shell scripting. An exciting opportunity to join a new team and support some of the top researchers in the world. Support Specialist will become part of a highly skilled team that provides access to high-end computing resources as well as expert consultancy and training. Essential Experience ·working in a customer-orientated environment ·working in computing in a research context ·conventional high-performance computing environments ·using a service management tool, ideally service now ·Linux including systems-level and administrative competence ·Proficiency in one or more Matlab, Python, R, shell scripting ·Ability to install and configure software, including familiarity with common build-systems The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent experience, and; have experience of working within an ITIL environment, working knowledge of Windows or Mac OS, familiarity with software carpentry or similar programmes and experience of delivering workshops/short group tuition. Support Specialist will provide expert advice to service customers to provide high-quality and timely response to incoming support requests. Support Specialist will work closely with the Service Desk Team, to enhance 1st Line response and the Digital Media Manager to provide an up to date and comprehensive online presence.
