Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Windows Server, AD, Exchange, SQL, IIS, VMware An excellent opportunity has arisen with a big brand financial services company based in Reigate, Surrey for and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join this dynamic and friendly team. The role is to provide 2nd and 3rd line levels of technical support to the business, covering all areas of IT deployed within the company. Role of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Support, maintain, upgrade and install any IT systems and applications used within the organisation. - Focus on project work to implement new systems and upgrade/improve upon existing infrastructure. - Act upon instruction from the internal ticketing system, such as requests for change in system access, and managing allocation of project tasks. - Diagnose a wide range of issues, focusing on server and network platforms, and to a lesser extent desktop applications. - Update the internal knowledgebase with both technical guides for colleagues, and system usage procedures to aid customers. - Work collaboratively with 3rd party support services on diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to the e-commerce environments. - Provide excellent customer service and support for internal staff via email, phone, Skype or face-to-face. - Be able to spot potential technical vulnerabilities and suggest resolution. - Proactively monitor systems and take preventative measures to reduce system downtime. - Highlight possible trends from re-occurring incidents. - Ensure all systems meet Business Continuity Planning measures. Requirements of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer: - Passion for the technical challenge. - 2 years+ of 3rd line technical support experience. - Excellent experience with Microsoft technologies across the board: - Server 2008 - 2012 R2 implementation experience. - Active Directory and GPO management. - Exchange management. - Windows 7/10 management. - Good experience with database and web application administration SQL Server 2008-2014 database management - IIS web application management. - Good experience of managing virtualisation platforms: VMware vSphere and ESX. Hyper-V. - Good general knowledge of networking and technologies:The TCP/IP stack, Concept of VLANs and firewalls, Wireless configurations. - Exposure to working with Red Hat or similar Linux distributions. Desirable: - Proven track record of implementing technical systems. - Experience of working within a change control environment or financial institution. - Experience with managing highly available systems and disaster recovery planning. - Microsoft Failover Clustering - Experience with Load Balancers, ideally F5 BIG-IP LTM. - Ethernet network configuration experience: - CCNA or similar training. - Cisco LAN and Firewall devices. - Knowledge of VLANs and routing protocols. - Storage network configuration experience: - Fibre channel fabric management. - LUN allocations. - Scripting ability - PowerShell/Bash.
