Compliance Officer Our client is a niche mutual insurance company specialising in providing professional indemnity insurance for the veterinary profession. They areembarking on a significant period of change and development as it implements its strategic plan to consolidate its current strong position within the profession and develop other products, services and membership benefits. Position: Compliance Monitoring Officer Location: Knutsford, Cheshire Contract type: Full Time, Fixed Term 6 Months (possibility of role becoming permanent in due course) Salary: up to £35,000 per annum About the Role: As part of the Risk and Compliance function, the Compliance Monitoring Officer will provide first line support, advice and assistance to the Society to ensure it meets its regulatory requirements and that compliant business processes are maintained. You will monitor the regulatory landscape to identify the requirements the Society must accommodate and assist in making suitable recommendations to the business. You will also provide day to day compliance advice and support to the business to assist in a range of key business projects and back office processes to ensure that regulatory requirements are met. Additionally you will review and approve the Society’s financial promotions in accordance with FCA, DPA and other relevant regulations and assist the Society in managing its complaints process and ensure that Management Information is produced in a timely manner. You will assist the Society in implementing recommendations from internal audit reports and undertake Compliance Monitoring reviews to ensure adherence to processes, policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements. You will also produce draft and final monitoring reports and ensure that actions are agreed with management and provide reports to the Second Line to highlight any areas of weakness. About You: The successful candidate will have significant compliance experience gained in a UK financial services environment and knowledge of non-advised sales process and of the Professional Indemnity Insurance market. Previous experience gained in UK General Insurance and knowledge of the UK veterinary industry and how it is regulated would be an advantage. Additionally you will have an understanding of FCA rules to include PRIN, SYSC, CoBS, ICoBS and PERG. An understanding of the Data Protection Act and Privacy in Electronic Communications Regulations is essential, as is an understanding of the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation requirements. Some understanding of the principles of risk management in the insurance sector and an awareness of UK Anti Money Laundering regulations would be beneficial, as would knowledge of the wider financial services industry. You will have proved IT skills and the ability to create and maintain audit trails. You will also have the ability to prepare reports and make recommendations to senior management and the board. The ability to create and deliver presentations to audiences with basic financial services knowledge would be beneficial.
