ICAEW Chartered Accountant
Chartered accountants are the people who tackle the most important challenges in business. They use their skills and experience to help companies improve their performance, solve their financial problems and drive their future plans.
Because of the knowledge, skills and experience they develop through their chartered accountancy training, ICAEW Chartered Accountants are trusted, respected and always in demand.
Our globally recognised chartered accountancy qualification, the ACA, can lead you to the top of your chosen career. Once you’ve achieved this, you’ll be a chartered accountant and be able to use the letters ACA after your name.
A variety of organisations offer the opportunity to train for the ACA qualification straight after A-levels (or equivalent). These school-leaver programmes typically take three to five years to complete and combine work with study, so you’ll have the opportunity to earn while you learn. What’s more, you could qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant by the time you’re 21!
It might surprise you to learn that you don’t need an A Level in Maths to secure a school-leaver programme in accountancy. Entry requirements differ between employers, but, in general they’ll be seeking at least a GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English.
Employers are looking for candidates who stand out from the crowd and can bring something extra to their organisation. Among other things, you’ll need to show a genuine interest in, and commitment to, your chosen career path.
Employers will look for you to demonstrate your abilities in the following areas throughout the recruitment process:
- People skills
- Team working
- Commercial awareness
- IT skills
If you’re looking to get a head start, you can start to build up your skills through a work experience placement or insight day.
