Education Service Officer (Admissions) Do you have experience working in Higher Education or similar Academic settings? Are you looking for temporary work for an immediate start? Then we would like to hear from you! We are recruiting an Education Services Officer to oversee Admissions within one of the top universities in Yorkshire. The position is due to start ASAP and will be for a duration of 3 months. You will work Monday to Friday for 35 hours a week. The rate of pay will be £12 per hour. Shortlisted candidates should be available for interview and ready to start immediately if successful. Key duties Of the Admissions Officer - Making decisions on standard and complex UK, EU and International applications in line with the Faculty and University admissions policy. This includes the assessment, checking of qualifications and agreed criteria and referring cases to appropriate bodies, e.g. Central Student Administration and UCAS, as necessary; - Ensuring the admissions processes and policy are documented and are easily accessible by colleagues. - Maintain appropriate application records, including Banner, the University student database, to support decision-making and reporting, ensuring there is an accurate and auditable record of applicants and their offer status; - Supporting admissions colleagues across the Faculty to meet annual targets for student recruitment in line with appropriate admissions strategies; - Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of University and Faculty policies and practice in relation to admissions, providing authoritative guidance to colleagues; - Developing and maintaining knowledge of international and UK qualifications, advising colleagues of standard translations of applicants` overseas qualifications into UK equivalent qualifications; - Participating in Open Days and other events in liaison with the Marketing Team; - Working with academic colleagues to manage the key specialism the role is assigned; Key experience of the Admissions Officer - Experience of decision making (if possible undergraduate applications) - Experience of providing a high level customer service; - Excellent organisation and time management skills with an ability to prioritise tasks to meet agreed deadlines and conflicting demands within a busy, dynamic work environment; - Evidence of working both proactively and independently, but also as part of a wider team, experienced in providing direction and support to team members; - Excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders of all levels tailoring your style as required; - Experience in identifying problems and providing practical solutions and recommendations in a timely manner as well as recognising when problems need escalating; - Excellent accuracy and attention to detail; - Experience of an ability to develop, and improve processes and practices, with a commitment and view to providing an excellent service to all stakeholders; - Competent user of IT systems including Microsoft Office Applications and Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM); - Awareness of the principles and implications of the Data Protection Act.
