Your new school
A Secondary Special School in Manchester, wish to appoint a committed Key Stage 3 Nurture Group Teacher for a long term role, with an immediate start. This job is a full time role 5 days a week. The role is to work with the 11 to 13 age group (KS3) many of the pupils are working at Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Level. Due to the attainment levels of the students the head is keen to hear from secondary and primary qualified teachers for this role.

The school are a Key Stage 3 Secondary special school for children with social emotional mental health (SEMH) An understanding of emotional and behavioural difficulties and mental health is required and a commitment to furthering the learning and development of these pupils is essential.

Your new role

Our client is seeking a qualified teacher to work in a KS3 EBSD school. The role will require you to lead a subject across the school whilst teaching across the curriculum to one class. This position would be of particular interest if you have experience of working with challenging students in a small group environment.

Experience of working with students who have been excluded from mainstream on the basis of emotional and behavioural difficulties would be an advantage but not a necessity. It is equally important to have the right personality to be able to build a strong working relationship with students and staff alike. This role is very much a team role where there is a supportive and experienced management team.

What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Teacher Status or Recognised Teaching Qualification
Key Stage 3 specialist in any subject or those with experience of the KS2 curriculum would also be suitable
The ability/desire to work positively and effectively with challenging EBSD pupils and pupils with autism
Solid experience teaching in a mainstream school
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
The ability to motivate students and make lessons interesting
Excellent organisational and ICT skills
The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team

Desirable:
Proven experience of working in a nurture group setting
TCI (therapeutic crisis intervention) qualification
Willingness to contribute to the extra curricular activities
