Your new school
Manchester based secondary school are looking for a dedicated learning mentor who has previous experience working with secondary aged pupils. The role will start on a temporary basis, for the remainder of the academic year. The school has an enthusiastic team of staff who are committed to improving the learning and development of pupils.
Your new job
Are you a recent graduate looking for a new challenge in education? Perhaps you are trying to decide if a career in education is right for you? If this sounds familiar, and you have experience of mentoring or working with children, then we would love to hear from you. We are currently recruiting for Learning Mentors in the Manchester area. The pupils have been identified by the school as in need of additional support. You will work with a range of learners, but give priority to those who need your support the most. We are seeking to recruit a learning mentor to work across the key stages. The learning mentor must have experience supporting pupils in Maths, English or Science. * Work closely with the young person (1-2-1 or small groups)
* Assist social and emotional development
* Act as a role model
* Outline positive behaviours
* Create a positive working relationship
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will be a recent graduate or have a level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning as well as recent and relevant experience in a similar role. You will also have experience of working with young people. You must be passionate about supporting the needs of children and be confident in working with children.
