Your new role
As a Year 6 teacher you will be responsible for delivering all aspects of the curriculum to a class of up to 30 pupils. Within the class there is a wide range of abilities and as a result you will have to plan to cater for all pupils, ensuring they make the required progress. In the absence of their usual class teacher, you will be responsible for preparation of the pupils to sit their upcoming SATs assessments. There will be opportunities to plan with a fellow Year 6 teacher to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in the role you must be a qualified teacher or a newly qualified teacher with specific experience teaching in a Year 6 class. A strong subject knowledge is required, especially in English and Maths. The ability to plan creative and engaging lessons is important to ensure all pupils are engaged and get the most out of your lessons. To ensure pupils make progress straight away, you must be able to form lasting, positive relationships to create a positive learning atmosphere. Your willingness to take part in extracurricular activities would be an advantage to your application.
