Your new school
Manchester based primary pupil referral unit (PRU) are looking for a dedicated specialist teaching assistant who has previous experience working with primary-aged pupils. The role will start on a temporary basis, however it has a high chance of turning into a permanent contract. This PRU specialises in catering for who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school and as such many of the pupils have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEMH). Every class has TA support and some pupils will have additional 1:1 TA's. The school has an enthusiastic team of staff who are committed to improving the learning and development of pupils in the Primary phase.
Your new job
As a teaching assistant, your job will be to support pupils across the primary phase in KS1 & KS2. You will be working with small groups of pupils to enhance their learning and academic development. You will also work alongside the class teacher to deliver the national primary curriculum and ensure that all pupils understand and engage with the tasks set. Your job as a teaching assistant will also involve the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for the children to learn in. Your role will involve supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), therefore experience of this is essential.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will have a level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning as well as recent and relevant experience in a similar role. You will also have experience of working with SEN pupils. You must be passionate about supporting the needs of children and be confident in working with children.
