POSITION: Finance Manager

LOCATION: Glasgow (G31)

HOURS OF WORK: TBC - day time hours only

DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT: Approx. 6 months

RATE OF PAY: £40,000 to £60,000 per annum
Temporary rate to reflect agreed salary

PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Finance department provides financial and budget planning, analysis and management across the business groups of Carillion. Supporting the Finance Director in ensuring the financial performance of the business is reported in a timely and accurate manner, providing information key to the decision making process across the business. The area of responsibility will likely be a contract or cluster of contracts with a turnover of circa £15m-£30m per annum.

Decision Making - The role will interface with the Business Unit or Sector and Shared Service Centre to ensure process and procedures are followed and that timely information is available to the drive decision making process within their respective area of responsibility.

Business Partnering - Financial leadership will be expected in a Business Partnering capacity to allow the business to meet both their short and long term strategic objectives, customer requirements and growth targets. This is likely to also include working with Operations to deliver short term ad-hoc info requests.

Performance Management - The Finance Manager (Level 1) will be expected to work closely with both Operations and other functional colleagues to drive key areas of financial performance, in particular both margin and cash across both short (current year) and medium term (years 1), laying the foundations for persistent financial success.

Customer - The Finance Manager will be expected to work closely with Operations to deliver a cost effective delivery solution for the customer and manage the front end customer relationship with regards to finance.

Business Planning - The Finance Manager will be responsible for developing and then working with both Operations and other functions to deliver both the budget and forecast processes, feeding into the FP&A team, and the results agreed with Senior Management.

Business Preparation and Prioritisation - The Finance Manager will play a critical role in always 'looking forward' and highlighting the activities that will add most value and take their colleagues with them on that journey. This will include maintaining the cash forecasts and CIPs to ensuring key activities required to drive performance are in regular update and circulation within their part of the business.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
?Building and maintaining key relationships across the Business Unit, understanding key business activities
and offering support when required and challenging as appropriate
?Reviewing and challenging monthly business performance including revenue recovery/generation, cost
management and cash conversion; producing key management information and commentary including
identification of risks/opportunities and helping the business to manage those
?Taking a lead in driving performance improvements on both the short and long term performance
measures for the area of responsibility, (e.g. growth, profit, cash, safety, employee satisfaction)
? Working alongside the Finance Directors and Business Unit colleagues to deliver/develop the Budget and
Forecast process, reviewing and challenging performance and spend with Senior Management and delivering
accurate and robust forecasts to Group/Business deadlines
?Working closely with the Shared Service Centre as required to ensure all processes relating to the finance
function are adhered to and managed effectively
?Responsibility for the Business Unit Working Capital position; championing Debt/WIP & cash-flow
improvement and working with Business Unit leaders to address areas of concern
?Analysing the overhead costs and structures to ensure they are aligned to meet the requirements of
Governance, H&S, Group strategy or the Business Units requirements
? Data interpretation & presentation, to support Commercial decision-making & providing ad-hoc
Management Information to support the Senior Management Team in their roles eg. providing effective
financial stewardship and guidance on contract issues such as cash and margin
?Mentor and develop our finance function and wider operational and functional teams to enhance and
improve business wide financial awareness
