My client is looking for a bright, enthusiastic First Line IT Support Engineer, to join their friendly Networking / Infrastructure Team, based just outside Thame.

My client is a small but fully independent Internet Service Provider (ISP), with an impressive, robust network operation, providing mainly website hosting, supported by a wide and interesting variety of other networking services.

The role will require

    Working closely with both internal staff and external customersProcessing incoming support requests for the teamEnsuring these are fully logged, actioned, and responded to, within Service Level Agreements where appropriate It will involve extensive liaison and interaction over both telephone and email, so will require excellent communication skills. Additional responsibilities will include daily operational tasks which ensure the hosting environment is not only secure and reliable but also operating in compliance with established business processes.
The role has core hours of 9am - 5:30pm (with 1 hour for lunch), Mondays to Fridays.

There will also be some occasions where it may be necessary to take out of hours support calls, though these are very rare, and additional, generous overtime rates are provided to cover.

The successful individual will be exposed to all the workings of a complete web hosting ISP operation, and be trained on the job to get involved in all aspects of the team. Over time, it will also be necessary to also visit their hosting data centres in London Docklands and High Wycombe, so driving licence and car ownership is required and the applicant should live within 30 minutes’ drive of Thame, Long Crendon, Bicester or surrounding areas.

Useful experience : working with Helpdesk / Ticketing systems, Microsoft Windows Server Setup and Management, Active Directory User Account and Privilege Management, Setup / Management of Email Accounts (POP3 and Exchange), Internet Information Server administration, Microsoft SQL Server administration, Basic TCP/IP (IP Addressing / Subnets / basic Routing principles), Basic Networking Appliances (Router / Firewall / Switch setup and Administration), Security Appliances / Firewalling / Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Linux Server Administration / Command Shell, Apache / MySQL knowledge, but training can be given to the right candidate.
