Primary Teacher - SEMH

Salary: £22,692 – £33,492 up to UPS3 covered by teachers’ terms and conditions.

A vacancy has arisen for a Primary Teacher at Hillcrest Shifnal School. Set in a beautiful rural setting, this lovely school for up to 55 students, aged 7-19 years old aims to provide a balanced and bespoke curriculum which will enable students the room to grow and develop into confident, creative and become well-rounded members of the community. We achieve this through promoting Emotional Literacy and SMSC, as well as raising the awareness and understanding of the environment and the world.

Job Purpose

This is a specialist post which requires the deployment of a wide range of teaching strategies to engage and develop the progress of reluctant learners, who present with a range of learning styles and often lack basic skills in literacy and numeracy. Students are taught in group sizes of 5 or less with an additional member of staff supporting each group. Hillcrest Shifnal School follows the National Curriculum and it would be expected that Teachers applying for the role would have an up to date knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements and assessment practice, as well as experience working within an SEN environment with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Skills Required:

Has Qualified Teacher Status.Has knowledge of current education in terms of practice and process.Has experience of working with children with SEMH/behavioural difficulties.Has knowledge of the national curriculum and other programmes related to Primary Phase educationHas the ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of working with challenging young people.Please call Kerri Lane on 02392 008542 to arrange an initial visit.Interview Date Thursday 19th October 2017
