Hadoop Linux Engineer - (Hadoop infrastructures, Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl), Automation, Linux. Title: Hadoop Linux Engineer. Location: London. Salary: market rate c 600 - 650 per day neg on experience Start: ASAP Duration: 6 months. We are looking for a Contract Hadoop Linux Engineer for 6 months in London paying market rate. You will be working with an existing infrastructure team of a leading firm working on big data technologies. Tasks include, building high quality systems with a focus on scalability, resiliency, security & automation. Duties Looking after the Hadoop infrastructure, from improving the infrastructure to implementing new Hadoop apps, on-boarding new data sets, & providing expert advice to other teams on how to make the best use of Hadoop. Involved in / running projects such as setting up a new Hadoop cluster, upgrading to new versions, selecting the best hardware for Hadoop or streamlining the work around Hadoop via automation & self-servicing. these technologies. Skill experience required You will need a track record of delivering high quality work, including testing & documentation. * Designing, running & troubleshooting Hadoop infrastructures. * Scripting (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl). * Automation via the use of configuration management (such as Puppet or Chef) & orchestration tools (such as Ansible). * Good understanding of Linux OS core principles, performance & tuning. Desirable Skills * Other log collection, aggregation & searching tools (such as ELK, Flume, Solr). * Splunk. * Time series databases (i.e. InfluxDB, OpenTSDB). * Database administration & querying (SQL). * Kerberos, SSL certificates. * Solid knowledge of basic network protocols (e.g. IP, UDP, TCP), OS network stacks. * Cluster managers (e.g. Docker, Apache Mesos, Kubernetes). Technical Skills are vital but also important are the ability to work well in a team and great communication skills. What next?
