Not for profit organisation based in Central Bristol, looking to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant in to their finance team, to manage the VAT, Taxation, Treasury investment and Payroll operations. Client Details Our client is a large charity based in central Bristol, leaders in their field and looking to build their excellent team in a newly created Senior Financial Accountant post. Our clients offices are based in Central Bristol, within walking distance of Temple Meads station. Description - To manage the Trust's Payroll function (2 staff) to ensure that they run efficiently and effectively, whilst also ensuring compliance with the organisations systems of internal control.. - To support the development of the financial modules to ensure that it meets business needs and that the system's full capabilities are being utilised. To build working relationships with the key internal stakeholders and external providers relating to the organisations systems to drive improvements. To ensure that staff are fully trained and conversant with the system, rolling out training as required. - To ensure that all taxation requirements are adhered to and that there is the necessary understanding of VAT and Corporate tax legislation as to how it relates to the third sector within both the department and the greater organisation. - To be the lead point of contact with HMRC for the organisations taxation affairs and to disseminate information from HMRC to the relevant managers and colleagues within the Finance Department. - Manage the taxation affairs of the organisation, including: -Preparation of VAT returns, including accurate partial exemption calculations - Ensuring policies, structure and transaction processing is maintained to minimise irrecoverable VAT and identification and evaluation of VAT opportunities - Awareness and preparation of corporation tax and impact on the organisations activities - Ensure the organisations compliance with tax legislation - To manage the organisations investment and treasury activities including: - Support the preparation of, and then review, the organisations annual cash flow forecast; - To support the Head of Finance in developing and preparing a longer-term cash flow forecast to support the organisations Investment Management; - Advise on investment options for surplus cash in accordance with the Trust's Treasury and Investment Policies; - Monitor and review the activities of the Trust's investment managers and advise the Head of Finance on performance; - Administration of banking arrangements and relationships Profile The successful candidate for the part time Senior Financial Accountant position: - CCAB qualification or sufficient qualification by experience - Relevant previous experience of working with an ERP system (Previous experience of working with Agresso Business World would be beneficial) - Post qualification experience at a senior level in financial management in a similar-sized organisation - Experience in managing VAT and producing VAT returns - Experience in producing long-term and annual Cash Flow forecasting - High financial awareness, with the ability to communicate complex financial management information in a straight forward way - Experience of liaising pro-actively with external advisors notably external and internal auditors - Good, proven, people management skills - Ability both to identify required process improvements and to design and implement those improvements - Sift complex financial and non-financial information from a range of available sources to understand its impact on the organisation Job Offer On offer for the Senior Financial Accountant position: - A basic salary of £40,000 - £45,000 - Defined pension contribution, matched up to 10% - Excellent holiday entitlement
