Java Developer (Java, TDD, AWS, Agile) We are delighted to be working with an award-winning technology business based in County Durham who are looking to add an experienced Java developer to their agile team. Candidates will be working on the full development lifecycle of Java based applications and should have skills in - Java - TDD - Agile/Scrum - Cloud based solutions, specifically Amazon Web Services This is an excellent opportunity to work on projects with internationally recognised brands developing bespoke solutions. Salary would be up to £45, 000 plus benefits The technical team work through the full solution lifecycle. Spending time with clients to fully understand their requirements before helping with the design and development of software solutions. The Java developer will work on low and high level designs, coding and assist the testing team. Role As part of your role you will: - Take user stories and realise these within a working project. - Write automated tests (Unit and End to End) to guarantee quality in our projects. - Peer review your team mates code and suggest amendments to improve quality and standards compliance. - Contribute to internal coding standards. - Document functional and none functional changes. - Work with our manual test team to ensure sufficient manual testing has been completed. - Contribute to the training and skill of the wider team through internal training sessions. - Identify training opportunities for you and your team members Person We're looking for an experience Java developer with strong technical skills and an excellent knowledge of the full development lifecycle. Ideally candidates should: - Have expert level knowledge of Java. - Have extensive portfolio of previous client work. - Be able to demonstrate an expert use good design patterns, interfaces and APIs. - Be able to demonstrate experience with high and low level technical design. - Have experience in large transactional systems. - Have expert knowledge in technical testing, such as Unit testing and Test Driven Development. - Have experience working with *Nix servers and configuring application on them. - Have working experience of software development and delivery methodologies (Test Driven Development, Agile, Waterfall etc). - Experience working with batch processing. - Experience working with Cloud based applications, specifically Amazon Web Services and Azure. - Experience working with version control systems such as SVN and Git.
