1st/2nd Line Support Engineer
£25,000-£30,000 + perm benefits

A leading banking financials organisation is currently recruiting for a 1st/2nd line support engineer to support across all business areas with additional involvement in IT projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to numerous different technologies within both a windows server and networking team. The organisation wants a candidate who will relish an opportunity of learning new skills and are happy to provide on-site training and deliver qualifications to the chosen candidate.

Main responsibilities of role
*Provide effective first and second line support for Bank users, logging of helpdesk calls, resolving issues to completion by working with senior members of the team and proactive investigation
*Run daily procedures & ensure the daily checklist tasks are logged and completed successfully
*Assist with office relocations and equipment moves
*Monitor the performance of the network and ensure network & communication issues are investigated & resolved
*Manage hardware/software problems to resolution. Pro-actively seek solutions to known issues
*Configure PC & server hardware & software for the bank's users
*Ensure daily server backups are running successfully
*Maintain PC, Server, Communications and associated equipment
*Monitor Bank's antivirus solution
*Provide out of hours support using on-call mobile as provided, according to agreed rota
*Ensure physical & logical security of computing facility as appropriate

The person
*Experience of working in a busy support environment, handling 1st and 2nd line support issues
*Experience working with Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 servers, making configuration changes and troubleshooting issues.
*Good Active Directory knowledge over and above basic user administration, preferably MCSA qualified
*Good understanding of DNS\DHCP and Group Policy
*Experience supporting IP telephony solutions, preferably Mitel
*Proactive person, with excellent troubleshooting skills who uses their initiative to resolve issues to completion
*Able to work well as part of the support team and equally to individually complete required tasks
