We are currently looking to recruit a Development Engineer to join our Automotive customer in Northamptonshire. The ideal candidate will have a background in product test within an Automotive environment, ideally on powertrain products. Responsibility of the Role: - Customer liaison regarding product - Go through all customer standards, specifications and inputs to create internal PDS and inform relevant departments of project/product requirements - Define required product testing and agree specifications with customers - Create development and test plans - Compile all relevant data from departments to formulate customer quotations - Work with design team to scope out design and create development system - Organise prototype BOMS and parts required for testing including sourcing components, ordering parts and scheduling builds - Lead development process including vehicle and rig based testing, instrumentation and data processing - Writing up of development and testing reports - Liaison with external FEA, CFD and rig based testing, to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met for sign off - Set up and commission of internal mechanical and electrical testing at R&D centre - Managing product attributes throughout the design, development and pre-production process - Must adhere to the quality policy, environmental policy and the health & safety policy Skillset: - Competent communication skills, including presentation and report writing skills essential - Foundation of basic electrical / electronic skills are desirable - Basic programming skills in MATLAB / Python / C or similar are desirable - Signal processing and analysis are desirable - Electronic circuit design, FEA / simulation skills desirable but not essential are desirable - Automotive Knowledge essential - HSE knowledge essential - Experience in exhaust development is not essential but is a strong advantage
