The company has been very successful in raising funds, and are now embarking on a huge growth phase and securing top talent is very much at the top of their agenda. Opportunity The company is now looking to recruit a Director of Risk & Compliance who will be responsible for all of the group's risk and compliance function, and will sit on the senior leadership team, reporting into the main board. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business at a very early stage, where you will be able mould and development the function in a fast-growing environment. Responsibilities This role comes with a lot variety and autonomy. The Director of Risk & Compliance will have total ownership of the risk review function and will be required to devise and implement an effective Compliance strategy that meets business needs and ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, whilst working with other senior managers to implement that Strategy. Key activities include: - Ensure effective management of the Compliance functions liaising effectively with the board and other functions to ensure delivery of agreed objectives - Perform the role of compliance oversight, an FCA-approved controlled function, and ensure effective consideration and implementation of all regulatory compliance-related requirements, including oversight of the senior manager's regime - Provide commercial advice to support decision-making on all compliance and regulatory issues, obtaining supplementary external advice where necessary. - Oversight of key areas of Conduct Risk within the business and TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) - Ensure all relevant business risks, relevant to the Compliance function, as identified under the organisations framework are managed and monitored as appropriate - Ensure all functional policies and operational procedures are updated, maintained and, where appropriate, aligned with business requirements - Update the Board monthly on all Compliance and Company risk matters. - Support the delivery of high quality service to customers in line with TCF principles - Promote and maintain a culture and environment that will facilitate delivery of the business strategy, ensuring that high standards of corporate governance, financial and risk management and control are observed at all times - Effectively execute the performance management and training processes to support delivery of organisational objectives and individual development - Review and maintain Money Laundering systems of control Overview of Required Skills and Behaviours Our client is looking for an extremely intelligent and ambitious Risk professional who has a commercial and technical skill set and focus. The successful candidate will be currently working in a senior risk position within Financial Services, looking to step up or to join a more agile and innovative business where they can have a lot of autonomy. Key skills - Degree Educated - Demonstrable experience in Risk & Compliance role within a FCA-regulated environment - Relevant experience with implementation and management of compliance and risk management policies and procedures. - Demonstrated business acumen, including ability to see the "big picture" as well as the relationship of very detailed and specific legal and business issues. - Strong initiative and excellent management, teamwork, delegation, and problem-solving abilities - Outcomes and solutions-orientated - The ability to build strong relationships and partner effectively with key stakeholders
