Big Data Engineer A truly exciting opportunity for a Big Data Engineer has arisen within my client, a tech consultancy with a highly successful and progressive Analytics and Big Data capability. The Big Data Engineer will have the opportunity to work on large scale programmes, delivering modern, analytical data solutions with a focus on Open Source tooling and COTS technologies. In this role, you will demonstrate your: - Experience within a Hadoop ecosystem and knowledge across Cloudera, Hortonworks, IBM, AWS etc - Ability to create data pipelines, clusters and real time applications utilising Kafka, Spark and Flume - Understanding of SQL on Hadoop tools - Working knowledge of HAWQ and Greenplum - Excellent capability working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra and Neo4J The Big Data Engineer will have access to the best tools and technologies in the industry, support and training throughout, with the opportunity to progress within the team. To be suitable for the Big Data Engineer opportunity you will ideally have a background in: - Software Engineering, ideally with Java or C# - Data manipulation, merging and analytics - XML processing, Custom ETL tooling - Transformation of data with COTS tools - Experience in developing real time (or near real time) applications - Software/ application integration with Mulesoft etc - Experience working in Agile and DevOps focused environments This is a high profile hire within a leading division of the business, and as such, interested Big Data Engineers should demonstrate a true passion for the tools and technologies of their trade, an ability to support other members of the team, learn and develop and crucially be able to build lasting relationships with stakeholders and clients. Due to the nature of the business, the Big Data Engineer will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest Big Data focused projects happening across the UK, a willingness to travel is a prerequisite.
