Our client is now looking for a Support Technician to ensure the availability of services across all the technologies used by the Colleges. Monitoring the performance of computer equipment, identifying faults and taking actions to maintain stable performance of networked devices, you will install and configure client-based hardware and software to agreed timescales whilst maintaining audio-visual equipment, printers and scanners. Installing and configuring new technologies, you will maintain the smooth and efficient operation of end-user computer equipment through effective installation, configuration, performance management and troubleshooting. As their Support Technician, you will also assist with ensuring integrity and security of data held on College's storage systems and with the preparation of technical documentation and procedures. You will set up user accounts and mailboxes, monitor software licensing and deal with suppliers to ensure equipment is suitable for purpose and cost effective with appropriate warranty arrangements. If you have a Level 3 qualification in an IT related discipline and have experience of providing first and second line support on PC hardware/software/mobile devices/AV equipment, then they would love to hear from you! With highly developed communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills, you will be able to establish credibility with managers and understand the business needs. With a positive 'can-do' attitude and the ability to work on own initiative, you will be an excellent problem solver and have knowledge and / or experience in computer hardware/software installation, audio-visual technology, printer/digital projector maintenance and management along with LAN technology. They'd also like you to have some knowledge of Windows Networking, administering Windows based environments, Microsoft email technologies and remote systems management tools. This is fixed term contract until September 2018.
